Diamonds are beautiful. It’s a fact. They are the natural choice for an engagement ring, we all know that. However, they are not the only option! Those of you who know me, know that my engagement ring stone is a very light blue aquamarine and I adore it.
When G and I first started thinking about engagement rings, I’ll be honest, I knew I wanted something big. All the jewelery I wear is big, and the diamond that we could afford at the time probably wouldn’t suit my taste, if you know what I mean. So I did my research, and when I found the aquamarine I fell in love. At first, I always thought that eventually I could switch out the stone for a diamond, but now I really don’t think I’ll ever want to! Aquamarines have a history that I love. They are the treasures of mermaids! Lore tells me that mermaids would gift sailors with aquamarines to keep them safe at sea. Not only that, but they signify communication, balance and focus on success. Plus it looks really awesome when I wear navy nail polish. What more could I ask for from my engagement ring??
I love my aquamarine, but there are so many options. So many wonderful alternatives, whatever your reason might be for choosing to go with a non-diamond engagement ring!

Princess Diana chose a deep blue sapphire for her engagement ring… how much more chic can you get than emulating such a fashionista?
Happy weekend!!
