Yesterday I shared a film clip of a gorgeous wedding from Our Favorite Vendor, Boston Wedding Films… Well, today I’m back with lots of lovely photos from the same wedding. This wedding, which took place at The Wentworth by the Sea Resort near Portsmouth, NH was a beautifully designed event. The flowers alone will just blow you away…

The key to pulling off this gorgeous event was a team of truly talented vendors, I mean, the best of the best. Many of Our Favorite Vendors were involved in this wedding – Eric Barry Photography, Boston Wedding Films, Spruce Floral, Tangorra Wedding Planning - the entire vendor list is below, it’s a good one!

Color Transitions – Cocktail Hour & Reception

If you’re just joining us, today we’re talking about transitioning your color palette throughout the seperate events of your wedding day – to make each event new and exciting, but still cohesive, building up the richness of tones for the most impact. Such a fun idea, right?

Okay, so just to recap, we are working with a palette of Raspberry, Eggplant and Ivory.

For the ceremony, we started in the center of this palette – lots of ivory with a hint of what’s to come later at the reception (the raspberry and eggplant tones).

For the cocktail hour, I still like to keep things fresh and light, so sprinkling in some lavendar and light pinks would be gorgeous.

Now, the reception is really where the “wow factor” comes in – the build up of the color palette really pops as guests enter the dinner space, and the raspberry and eggplant tones really deepen.

Photographers In Front Of The Camera!

This is just about the most adorable thing you’ll ever see. We’ve spent all week loving the photos that the husband and wife team at Brian Phillips Photography take when they are behind the camera. Well, today we get to see what happens when you put these two amazingly talented photographers in front of the camera!!! On their Five year anniversary, Brian and Maria enlisted Our Favorite Photographer Margaret Singer to photograph them in Davis Square (with flowers from Our Favorite Florist, Tangerine Creations!). What a collaboration!

Um, adorable, right? How amazing are these photos?? And don’t even get me started on the feathery flowers. LOVE all of it.

I’m always talking about how it’s SO important to get to know your photographer, and to totally love them… well, now you know Brian and Maria just a little bit better… and don’t you kinda heart them?

Flower-Filled Wedding at the Ritz, I

Every wedding has little bits of beauty scattered here and there, that’s a given. This wedding, though, was just so pretty through and through. The building blocks were hard to beat – a ceremony at the awe insipring Cathedral of the Holy Cross and a reception at the insanely perfect Ritz Carlton Boston, but the real pretty here lies in the details. And the flowers done by Our Favorite Florist, Tangerine Creations… Oh my…

SO much more to come later today. I wish I could show you every single one of the 300 plus photos of this wedding. Just amazing, and so much more in store for you! Let me just say, I was at the Ritz while the Tangerine Creations team was setting up and the ballroom was seriously a sea of flowers. Just wait ’til you see the final product!

Spotlight On… Tangerine Creations

Well, here we are! It’s officially 2010, and time to get out of holiday mode and back to the real world. Thank goodness we have a fabulous vendor to spotlight on this Monday morning. Our Favorite florist, Tangerine Creations is seriously one of our favorites. Orly and her team are so sweet and easy to work with always… and talk about talented, I’ve seen these ladies absolutely transform a room without even batting an eyelash. Orly is here with us today to help us to get to know her company a little bit better. Enjoy!

BHW: What is the most important thing you want brides to know about you & your company?
TC: Young, fun, innovative, unique deigns.

BHW: How would you describe your style?
TC: A fusion between the modern and the classic.

BHW: What is your favorite venue to work at? Why?
TC: The Boston Harbor Hotel, The Ritz Carlton and The Fairmont Copley Plaza. Their staff are all so great and easy to work with!

BHW: Do you have any tips for brides who are currently researching or working on hiring a vendor in your field?
TC: It is nice when you can really get a feeling of each bride’s style. Colors, look. I don’t expect them to know about flowers.. that is my job and I don’t want them to feel stressed because they don’t know how to put the ideas together. We are designers at the studio and is our passion to do that.

BHW: What do you love most about working in the wedding industry?
TC: I like the emotional feeling involved in the different design we do. Some of them have so much meaning. Every wedding is so different because of the personality and the different details involved.

BHW: What is your favorite part of a wedding day?
TC: When the Job is done and is time for the party to begin!

BHW: Any touching stories to share about your job?
TC: It is always touching when brides contact us after wedding to let us know how the flowers made such a difference on their wedding day. It is so fun to go to the flowers market and play with all the colors and shapes of flowers to come up with great design for each bride.

Going Green… One Step at a Time!

Let’s be honest, it’s tough to be green while planning a wedding. From getting all of your loved ones to the same place at the same time to all those gorgeous paper products, there are a lot of details that go into a wedding that just aren’t so envrionmentally friendly. But, thank goodnes! There are little things that you (and your vendors!) can do that make a big impact.

Here with us today with tips for greening your wedding flowers is one of Our Favorite Vendors, Lyndsey Loring of Lyndsey Loring Design.

A few things for Brides to consider when designing their weddings, and actions she takes in her studio to make wedding flowers just a little more green:

Ask your florist to suggest seasonal, locally grown flowers which reduce the amount of energy expended in the transport.

Be open to using other elements in the designs which are grown during the wedding season, i.e. fruit, vegetables & the foliage from the flowers, as well as twigs & branches.

Use rental items when possible, especially when the item probably won’t get reused by you, but would be great in another wedding. i.e. columns for large arrangements, tall glass vases to raise up centerpieces, archways, etc.

Ask family members for heirloom pins to decorate bouquet wrap instead of buying new, sentimental & environmentally friendly.

Extra fabric from wedding & bridesmaid dress alterations? Give the extra to your florist to wrap the stems of your bouquets with. You’ll get a perfect match & reuse beautiful fabric!

Ask your florist about incorporating plants into the design, that can then be planted in your garden for a lasting keepsake.

Here at the studio, we…

Use foliage from the flowers to line vases to cover exposed stems.

Compost all of our waste foliage/flowers.

Reuse the boxes our flowers are delivered in for wedding day deliveries and line them with unbleached craft paper.

Use local vendors & growers first for all of our floral & supply needs.

When enhancing flower color we use vegetable based dyes, instead of aerosol sprays.

Four Seasons Hotel Wedding

I know a lot of you Boston brides are planning hotel weddings. I also know that sometimes it can be a little tricky finding lots of gorgeous inspiration for transforming your hotel ballroom into your own personal space. I thought we should kick things off with a little bit of beauty from a winter wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel Boston. Linnea of Tangorra Wedding Planning pulled together some of our very favorite vendors for this fabulous wedding, which just makes it extra good. This is defenitely a wedding that we heart.

The soft white and gold tones of the room were highlighted with romantic white florals (created by the amazingly talented Sarah of Spruce Floral), and accented with pops of purples – especially in the cocktail hour decor.

Deb and Jeff were married in February – the soft, neutral colors of the ballroom at The Four Seasons are so perfect for a winter wedding don’t you think? Gorgeous.

These photos, taken by the wonderful Amanda Ambrose really highlight what great lighting can do to showcase your decor. Suzanne B. Lowell Lighting Design were the talent behind the lighting at this event – doesn’t the addition of lighting to the decor really warm the room?

Isn’t it fun to see photos of a winter wedding? I think winter weddings are so romantic and cozy – even in a ballroom! I totally heart it!
